9. Ramlal Parikh Bharatiya Bhasha Sansthan
 

Gujarat Vidyapith is committed to the cause of popularising and promoting the various languages of India. The Bharatiya Bhasha Sanskriti Sansthan was set up by the visionary Dr Ramlal Parekh with the aim of fostering emotional integration through the study of languages and culture.

With that lofty aim in mind, Dr. Parekh was able to gather monetary support from a number of organisations in the country. Indian language courses were started in 1994 in Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Gujarati Kashmiri, Sindhi, Gujarati. A special building Bhasha Bhavan was set up for the Bharatiya Bhasha Sanskriti Sansthan so that all languages could be taught under one roof. With countries coming closer as a result of globalisation, and increased interest in learning foreign languages, Bhasha Bhavan began offering courses in German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Arabic since 2003.
 

To date, thousands of people have benefited from the language learning courses. In 2014.-15, 288 students were awarded certificates in Indian languages and. 408 in foreign languages. The department is committed to encouraging the learning of languages and culture for emotional integration, taking a leaf from Gandhi’s efforts in community living and learning. Bharatiya Bhasha Sanskriti Sansthan, the Institute of Languages at Gujarat Vidyapith conducts short-term courses in 14 Indian and 9 foreign languages. The courses are at two levels, Elementary and Advance. Examinations are held at the end of the course and certificates awarded to successful students who pass the final exams. The Sansthan conducts 4 month courses for the Indian languages as mentioned above for Elementary and Advance levels starting in the months of January, May and September each year. The Foreign language courses are three months each, starting in January, April, July and October each year. There is no upper age limit for admission to these courses which anyone who has finished schooling can join.. Indian language classes are usually conducted from3-00 pm. to 5.00 pm. on Saturdays and for 2 hrs. between 8-00 am. and 12-00 noon on Sundays.
